Worse, Apple and Google are *still* holding the coats of FB and Bytedance and other companies that subvert browser choice and enable more pervasive tracking on the web through so-called "in-app browsers":

This adds to the incoherence of saying "privacy is a human right" while consistently failing to sell devices that promise it to folks who aren't rich. Apple's whole market model is based on only selling hardware when it can make 30+% after service costs. That makes 80+% of the market a no-go zone.

Privacy, as defined by Apple, isn't for the poors.

This is major: the BMA is the major union for doctors in the UK and not a niche group, most doctors are members.

Privacy online isn't solvable without legislation. We need laws to drive the price of reidentification high enough to make it commercially infeasible. This is because technical interventions cannot credibly prevent fingerprinting without neutering basic functionality.

It's perverse that the only folks to build such a browser is the Tor project, and Apple prevents them from bringing those benefits to iOS while marketing privacy:

I've tried #VisionPro demo in an Apple Store (they have lots of available slots in the UK, BTW)

- It's heavy. When it doesn't crush my sweaty cheekbones, it makes my neck hurt.
- Resolution is the best I've seen, but at best a 1440p monitor equivalent. Text is ok, but a downgrade from a real 4K monitor.
- Spatial vid from iPhone is low res and barely any 3D.
- Apple's professional 3D content looks low res, and has wobbliness of 3DoF, like all VR
- FOV is average
