If Area 51 were real and presidents were told about it, Trump would have tweeted about it during his first term in an attempt to own the libs. Or because he was trying to sell Trump-branded alien meat.

Basically, Occam's Razor pretty much rules out most massive government conspiracies that don't target minorities, but having had four years of Trump, we can say that if any government conspiracy exists it must not be automatically known to the office of the presidency because that dipshit would have just tweeted it out there.

just heard from someone in marketing at a crypto company that since last week's "new commitment to free speech" at Facebook, suddenly all the limitations on crypto advertising at Facebook are totally gone. It's totally free rein now.

Congrats, zuck, now we're at the dawn of a new age of scams. Be sure to tell your parents not to fall for any of them, even when Matt Damon says they should convert their retirement to bitcoin.

My memorial to David Lynch will be to hopefully introduce some folks to INTERVIEW PROJECT.

In 2009, Lynch crossed the US and back (20,000 miles), interviewing Americans intimately familiar to me, but invisible to most of the world. The underdogs, the down-and-out, those who don't fit in, mostly. A lot of broken dreams. Ain't that America.

There are 122 films, directed by Lynch, portraits under 5:00. All are available on Lynch's YouTube channel, re-released for the project's 15th Anniversary last Fall.

Here's the trailer, with a selection of interview films to follow in a thread.

I've received 5 VC offers "to chat" regarding Pixelfed in the past few days.

Not for sale.

Pixelfed belongs to the people.

I'd rather be broke and true to my beliefs, than sell out.

That's why I'm organizing a Kickstarter to fund the ethical development of Pixelfed, Loops and more.

It's time that someone stood up to them, instead of joining them.

Are you with me?

I watched Nosferatu tonight. A bit slow, but that's because the atmosphere is as thick as some kind of grim blood treacle. Also the integration of sex and death, the living and the dead, vitality and decay was the most horrific aspect of the movie. Two rotting thumbs up!

I was worried that the Severance writers might fumble season two. High concept sci-fi tends to fall off a cliff after the first season or two (see West World, Mr. Robot, etc.).

But if the first episode of season two is any indicator, Severance will be a classic. I’m hooked.

#PhotoOfTheDay is of a USGS elevation benchmark disk on the summit of Mauna Kea, the tallest summit in Hawaii & the largest mountain on earth when measured from its base on the ocean bed.

Favorite fact:The elevation shown (13,796') is measured using traditional methods. That's from sea level. But GPS elevation is 100 or 200' higher (I forget which.) Why? Sea level here is higher as Mauna Kea is so massive it has its own gravity, which pulls the ocean up on its flanks! 😮
