IndieWeb services are run by people, not companies. If your IndieWeb service provider equivocates like a big corporation or just can’t tell you directly that they support queer people, or disabled people, or immigrants, or anyone else who is in dispair right now, then you deserve better. Even if you don’t realize it.

Trump revoked a chunk of the EEOA, eliminating protections against discrimination for minorities and formerly-protected groups. You don’t need me to tell you that this is disgusting.

What I will say is this: pay attention to what people in your social spaces are saying about this. Watch how some of them will try to downplay the impact or dismiss your concerns.

These folks are showing you who they are. Pay attention and believe them.

The ideas from that article are a bit more optimistic and still haven’t been totally realized. The closest thing we have to it now is automatic optical size adjustments with variable web fonts, but even that situation is still quite messy.

lmao, the idea that parents of queer kids can't be queerphobic. my parents try but they still do transphobic things. more importantly, we should really be thinking about all the homeless trans kids whose parents literally disown them. have you ever heard of found families?

Yeah really. "Oops, I should have posted support for the authoritarian white supremacist from my personal account not the corporate account" isn't the answer people are looking for, and neither "I know it's a fascist dogwhistle but am not changing it".

@protonprivacy you as a foundation and as a company really need to be treating this as an existential crisis. At this point there is absolutely no reason for anybody to trust you. What are you going to do to try to change that?

I wrote about the micro.blog stuff tonight, in response to Vincent Ritter's blog post that he posted earlier today (or technically yesterday since it's after midnight, good lord why aren't I asleep yet....).

It's late (early?) and I don't usually write posts like this, so I guess this is a bit of an experiment to see how it feels.
