How many members of the Bundestag are still using X, thereby supporting his ad revenue?

And all over Europe: If your country has parliament members still on X, ask them why they support the ad revenue of a guy who is spreading fascism.

Hey friends! It’s nearly time for #FOSDEM, the annual free and open source event in Brussels. This weekend, the Mastodon team will be based in building H.

We’ll be raising funds for the project with some of our merch - beautiful limited edition winter mugs, pins, and t-shirts. We’ll also have fun stickers to share for free, so you can show your support for Mastodon everywhere!

(just so you know: we’re a bit short on larger t-shirt sizes, so come early if you want to buy one of those)

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Eighty years ago today, over 7,000 prisoners of the German Nazi camp #Auschwitz, including some 700 children, were liberated by the soldiers of the Soviet Army.

1,689 days of murder, pain, suffering, and humiliation were over.
Today, we all remember. We must keep remembering.

On December 10, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly met at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris, France. A committee, led by Eleanor Roosevelt, created a Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The assembly adopted this, with no members voting against it. This document affirmed their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of humans, and in the equal rights of all individuals.

This should be required reading for every person on the planet.

Hey, while we're talking about erasing history:

In 1949 the US military held its first Aeriel Gunnery Competition, later known as "Top Gun."

The best of the best competed in dogfighting and other skills. The team that won, was the 332nd: The Tuskegee airmen.

So they refused to announce a winner. 🤡

If I can offer one bit of advice as a washed-up Bush era leftist it’s that getting smug over factually-wrong laws does nothing. Like the “he declared everyone is female” thing. They don’t need the justification to be real, they’ll do it anyway.

Being smug over getting to correct something feels good and can make you feel like you've done something, when you really haven't.
