Well, not a cat actually.

August 12, 2006, 7:20pm. Town of Ulysses, upstate New York. Squeak, the raccoon who lived with us when she wasn't living in the woods outside, takes a break from preparing to take her kits out for an evening training. Canon EOS 20D, 18~55mm kit lens, on-camera flash, 1/60 at f/5.6. My wife is a wildlife rehabiltator; someone brought Squeak to us when she was just a few days old. She grew up and left, but then came back in the winter. Judy would look down while making dinner, and there she'd be.

I find Trump as repulsive as most people here, but as a German, one thing I want to push back on is focusing only on one man.

Hitler's rise was possible because he was able to exploit the racial hatred and conspiratorial thinking that already existed.

It's MAGA acolytes that see Trump as an extraordinary figure. He was a reality show grifter with a crumbling business; Hitler was an undisciplined drifter with delusions of grandeur.

It's the soil that matters, not just the rotten harvest.

Consider this: Russian state media (TASS) was in the fracking Oval Office to report on the shameful performance by President Trump yesterday. Reuters and the Associated Press were banned. But Russia's main state-sponsored news mouthpiece was fully present.

First off: What a giant security failure. Again, shows that this White House is completely ignoring anything related to security clearances. President Trump on Day 1 in Term II declared the security clearance process was too onerous and that anyone so deputized by the White House counsel could have access to the most secret information there is.

my Dad enlisted in the US Army in February of 1942, landed on the 3rd day at Normandy, was demobilized in 1946, and was involuntarily recalled to active duty in 1949. he was assigned to Germany, and I was born in Ohio as my family was en route.

the founding of the NATO alliance changed the trajectory of my family’s life, and saved Europe from the old pattern of endless war & revenge. today we are witnessing the destruction of NATO by an American President, a possibility I would have scoffed at.
