We also need to remind ourselves of the attitudes of the six dynasties funding Project 2025.

Bradley, Koch, Coors, Scaife, Seid, Uihlein

They believe the USA should be like the UK, a monarchy where both religious and state power is held by one person.

Basically every political party that said ‘tariffs won’t really impact us / it’s no big deal / someone else will take care of that’ got their asses handed to them by Singapore voters, who are incredibly conscious of being from a place that is entirely about global trade. Ups and downs of global trade impact lives and jobs very quickly there.

It also sounds shocking out of touch and dismissive.

Trade is so important to us that even the aunties at the local coffee shop know the exchange rate of SGD to a few major world currencies.

Anyone who still believes our elections are only about domestic policies probably doesn’t believe it anymore.

So the whole point of Signal is that it doesn't store client messages on the server, making it pointless for hackers/governments to steal/require any data from it.

Trump's goons didn't use Signal. They used a fork. Which does archive messages on the server, thus completely negating the Signal's advantage. Making it possible to hack and steal. Which is, apparently, what did happen: https://www.404media.co/the-signal-clone-the-trump-admin-uses-was-hacked/

apparently fosstodon has some kind of a "no politics" policy in place? that's a very big warning sign!

to see why, i suggest watching "How to Radicalize a Normie" from The Alt-Right Playbook.

if you're super pressed for time, begin watching at 8:35 and stay until 12:30.

that part of the video explains very clearly how having a "contained" fascist on the mod team is still part of an effective recruitment strategy, and why the way mike (the instance owner) is acting now is a sign that the strategy is working.

but i REALLY think you should watch the whole video, because it explains not just what communities with "no politics"-style policies does for the alt-right (the "no controversy" kind that gets you a warning for saying trans lives matters), but also the rest of the alt-right radicalisation pipeline that those communities are part of.
