Here are my prediction(s). Within the next 10-20 years:
1. McKinsey or HBR will produce an article (or series) describing the need for critical, analytical thinking among new hires, holding up other companies (say, in Korea or China) that emphasize this.
2. The WSJ will recognize the management techniques at a few successful companies (which they will call "innovative") that involve mentoring new hires to develop critical thinking. This will generate subscription revenue.

Yog's Law for traditional publishing is "money flows TO the writer." In self-publishing, the corollary is "The writer is in CONTROL of the money." If neither of these laws apply to your situation, then there's almost certainly a problem.

It's an unfortunate commentary on the state of things when a sitting president can post a kind, respectful and empathetic message of support to his immediate predecessor, and the universal immediate reaction to it is "Well, HE clearly didn't write THAT."
Kudos to the staffer who did, however.

You know why the Democrats lose?
When a Dem, right now, is asked about Joe Biden running in 2024, the correct answer is “Donald Trump and his Republicans are destroying your retirement, taking your healthcare, and illegally kidnapping people.”, but instead, they keep fucking talking about Biden and analyzing the election. Y’all, it’s over. What matters is blaming the evil fuckers doing evil for the evil they are doing. Quit distracting people.

Recent movies and TV.
Freaky Taies (2025):
I have watched this three times. It is four interleaved stories, happening simultaneously in 1987, and the first one is a bunch of Gilman punks absolutely eviscerating some Nazis. If you aren't already in, I can't help you. It is "Pulp Oakland". The attention to detail is fantastic. Whoever made this.... was there. This is now both the Second best punk movie, and the second best Bay Area movie, I will not be taking questions.

TIL why (in British English) we don't use a dot after the “St” short form of “Street”.
The “t” in “St” is *not* the second letter of “Street”, but the sixth. So it's not an abbreviation (like “Prof.” for “Professor”, “etc.” in “et cetera”, etc.), it's a contraction (like “Dr” in “Doctor”, “Mr” in “Mister”, “St” in “Saint” and so on) and contractions don't have a dot.
🤯
I assumed it was just a weird English thing, but turns out I found the only language feature that's entirely consistent :flan_wink:
