things like this is why i'm so committed to building better tooling! the full boot trace is about 50 MB of raw data, and it's captured and decoded in seconds. very few tools can do this, and most of them are pretty expensive

Lots of people are shocked that bosses think they can replace competent programmers with AI. But that just means those people haven’t been paying attention.

I’ve been a professional developer for almost 30 years now. Bosses have always been skeptical that programming is more complicated than typing out what we want the computer to do, and have always been uncomfortable with both what they have to pay programmers and how much pushback they get from programmers.

Look, I *really like* the idea of machine learning and actually really want to use ML features that make my life easier/better. Autocorrect/keyboard suggestions? Yeah I’m a fan. Text to speech? But I do not want to “chat” with an LLM, doubly so when every interaction is keylogged and then used to train more planet-burning BS-spewing.
