article goes on to not mention at all that SO made a deal with OpenAI to sell all the content on the site (belonging to its users) which then prompted open revolt which SO dealt with by *checks notes* banning people who had the nerve to delete or change their answers https://www.theregister.com/2024/05/09/stack%5Foverflow%5Fbanning%5Fusers%5Fwho/

Things paramedics (~$20/hr base pay) and EMTs (~$17/hr base) I work with have done for people this year:
1. Paid for prescriptions so the patient wouldn’t have to call 911 every few days (multiple patients and crews).
2. Paid for rideshares to get people places when they didn’t want an ambulance but needed help.
3. Bought and delivered meals to a patient.
4. Bought clothing for a patient and delivered it to the hospital for them. And many more I can’t recall right now.

All is well and good. Until, as Timothy Lottes and Alex Fry (not Alex Fry) outlined in their presentations… some weird cognitive things happen with some depicted forms. Commonly “fire” is cognized as odd as F.

I found out today that my mother-in-law's PC isn't compatible with Windows 11, but it's not due to the TPM. It's because Microsoft says they do not support the CPU. Frustratingly, she got the PC about 5 years ago. If I recall, I was the one who helped her find it. :(
(Linux is not really an option. I do not have the energy to support her in this sort of transition, and I do not know anybody else who could. I'll either repurpose her PC myself, or find somebody who will.)

The problem with #Bluesky is they came to be during a time when decentralization was en vogue, so they decided to just be that.
But, it's marketing.
Ten, fifteen years ago Bluesky would've branded itself as "modular" or having a robust API like App dot Net.
They want to be the internet's common infrastructure. Of course they do. What for-profit company wouldn't want that?
I maintain that #ATProtocol is interesting. But it's not a noble pursuit.
Anyway, I deleted my BS account.
