We’ve collectively raised over *$17,000* for different organizations, many of which are local to our community members. Thanks to the incredible generosity of one of our members (bbq.omg.lol), there’s still an opportunity to double your difference with a matching donation to a charity of your choice.

I just read a series of posts by the owner and sole proprietor of the service where I used to host my main blog where he is going on about how he gained some insights into his family finances by feeding several months' worth of his bank statements into an LLM tool and I am feeling pretty good about my decision.

Last year at #BSDCan I excitedly told everyone how I was gonna make `fsync()` in #OpenZFS successfully fail when necessary, instead of failing successfully.

After a year of work, and rework, and getting all the pieces into place, an hour ago I finally posted the PR that should pull it all together and make it go 😅

Don't you sometimes get exasperated when witnessing so many of the discussions on creating a better fedi, that deal with crazy technical bandaids for the wrong tools we built. Microblogging sticky note exchange.. and how do we feature-add to that until it supports society? Isn't that the ultimate Golden Hammer anti-pattern, really?

If a peopleverse is where online technology serves people's needs in their daily lives, can we we imagine one? Can we evolve that?

big thanks to @MxSadie for putting me on to this book by @loriemerson… i’m about 30 pages, 15 networks in and it’s the sort of examination of technology and communication that fuels my optimism that we will continue to find ways to get our message out there even as the futures of our best-known communications infrastructures feel increasingly grim.

the cover of ‘other networks: a radical technology sourcebook’ by lori emerson. it is a hardbound book with a red cover, the title and author’s name set in gilt type. in the corner is an almost floral-looking representation of a network, ‘decentralized’ in the petal region and dropping down to several outward-facing nodes by its roots.

big bird: Mr. Buddha? is it true there's no such thing as me?

the buddha: There is a you, Big Bird. but not the kind you can hold in your hand

big bird: but I have a name. and feathers. and friends. Isn’t that me?

the buddha:those are parts of you. But they are always changing, aren’t they?

big bird: I guess so. my feathers fall out, and I get taller, and sometimes I even feel different inside

the buddha: That’s right. You are like a song, Big Bird, not a thing, but something happening

big bird: But if I’m just a song, what keeps me from disappearing?

the buddha: The love you give. teh kindness you carry. The way you make others smile. That’s the part that echoes

big bird: So I don’t have to hold onto 'me' so tightly?

the buddha: No. You are still here, even when you let go

big bird: Like a feather on the wind?

the buddha: Exactly.

big bird: I think I’ll go sing with my friends now

the buddha: And the song will go on
