As the month draws to a close, here’s a pretty cool reflection: the #omgdotlol community raised over $19,000 for all kinds of amazing organizations, thanks to everyone’s incredible generosity and bbq.omg.lol’s matching gifts. ❤️

I just donated 25% of omg.lol’s May earnings ($574) to South Louisville Community Ministries, a local group that helps low-income families with emergency assistance. They’re awesome people.

Here’s the full list of organizations we supported: https://home.omg.lol/giving.

Wanted to listen to a new favorite band, Durry, this morning and saw they just dropped a new video, and it's another banger. I'm a sucker for clever lyrics, and Durry always delivers. For instance, check this out:

If you got time to lean, then you got time to clean
Is what they told me
They don’t own me
They just own the only thing that’s keeping me alive
They swear that’s not a threat

I guess I’ll pledge allegiance to the paycheck

AI isn’t an existential threat to humanity, capitalism and corporations are.

You see, we created capitalism, a religion modeled on cancer, and the corporation, a new, artificial species; a parasite that co-opts human beings to do its bidding; an organism that’s psychopathic by design and grows by extracting from and exploiting us and our habitat.

And we now find ourselves ruled by this religion and driven to ruin by these parasites as they drain our humanity, destroy our habitat, and condemn our future.

Your enemy is capitalism.

Your enemy is the corporation.

This is an existential battle against a cancerous ideology and an invasive species for the survival of our own.

Star Trek The Original Series scene. A Gorn (a gorn!) is standing in the dessert trying to look menacing. I saw trying because it's a 1960's show with a small budget. Sort of looks like a teenage mutant ninja turtle from that movie in the 90s about adolescent mutant turtles but without the turtle shell and weapons and instead it's wearing a gold and ruby leotard. Face kind of looks like a komono dragon. Closed caption reads: [GRUNTS]

"Who designed this?" you might ask.

Small NYC brownstones such as the one shown here were generally either built from the start as multi-family tenements, or were built as single-family homes and later subdivided into apartments. In the former case, the layout into individual units was part of the original design and generally fairly sane. In the latter case, landlords often tried to squeeze every square inch of rentable space out of the existing layout, at the expense of things like hallways.

This hallway reminded me of a sight gag in the Coens' "Inside Llewyn Davis". I like that the two neighbors have to share a doormat.

The starkly bare hallway and contrasting tones between the walls and the doors and floor make this as much a study in abstract shapes as it is about urban living.
