@Nonilex That federal building complex was on the way to the main LA city hall gathering. It was surrounded by national guard armed with rifles, and that was the first sign of "crowd control" we saw in the morning.

Rifles for protecting a building from protestors? Fairly disturbing.

The military leaders made choices in how they performed in their parade yesterday.

Every choice sent a message.

I'm glad they made it low key and educational, instead of an over-the-top production.

It could have been a lot more propagandistic, like the parade below.

It reassures me.

Here's an interesting chart (form @adamtooze chartbook blog) which identifies where CEOs of global corporations come from (their previous jobs); so if you needed some (more) evidence on the cultural shape of the global economic elite this is going to be some help.

So, if you wondered why so many global corporations seem to adopt a similar strategic playbook, the role of consultancies in shaping CEOs outlook, looks like a good bet.

Accenture is second, and the Adecco Group is thirds, with EY firth. Proctor & Gamble is the only non-consultancy in the tip five, having been top supplier of CEOs in the previous two periods. Of the top eight, six are consultancies; below that the filled is split between bans & other corporates
