Technically they passed a bylaw that said that local thingies must be published in a local paper, and that guaranteed business was enough to get said local paper off the ground.

@lemgandi @paraplegic_racehorse @Moosjazz @pluralistic Great Highland Bagpipe player here. Closing the holes may be similar, or at least once you figure out which fingers are up and down for each note, it’s straightforward.
But I would challenge any recorder player to master mistake-free bagpipe embellishments at tempo, in all idioms. That means the fingers that need to be up are up, and the fingers that need to be down are down, and there are never any “ghost” notes, or “crossing noises.”
The National Piping Centre in Glasgow has a free tutorial series demonstrating the 56 embellishment techniques in their beginner tutor book. Beginner, mind you. https://www.thepipingcentre.co.uk/learn/one-to-one/complete-highland-tutor-book-video-exercises
Put those all together, in a set of 120 bpm strathspeys. From memory. While blowing and squeezing the sheepskin bag that feeds air to the 4 cane reeds.
But, what do I know.

The San Mateo Bridge, spanning the San Francisco Bay just south of SFO Airport, is relatively unremarkable except for its seemingly endless length. Sometimes known locally as the "S&M Bridge" for its frequently painful traffic congestion, looked at from the right distance, it can appear rather serine.
