I encountered this absolutely stunning goldenrod crab spider (Misumena vatia) in my roses this evening. I’ve never seen one in person before and this felt so special! I can’t get over how gorgeous she is. 😍🌹🕷️

I tried not to bother her too much, but she was definitely unamused by my camera all up in her business. 😅 Sorry lady! I hope you enjoy your stay and that you find lots of snacks! 🥰

A female goldenrod crab spider sits looking out from between vibrant pink rose petals, blending subtly with the flower's color. She is white with four long front legs and deep a red stripe along either side of her abdomen. The background features green leaves and blurred pink petals, creating a natural setting.

I think it took me roughly 25 hours split over 5 evenings to build. I took it really slow and checked and double checked everything. The biggest mistakes were made last night when I was pushing myself to finish it after spending the morning in the heat on a Coffee and POTA activation. That was risky.

If you want to build one. Take the advice on this video and only build it when you're well rested and with a clear focus. The build isn't hard, just long.

Electrical resistance is not the first quantity that comes to mind when thinking about the deep fundamental laws of nature - it's very much associated with materials science.
Yet, there are two places where it occurs in fundamental physics, even winning a Nobel prize:

Space itself has an impedance given by the ratio of electric and magnetic fields in a wave - it's roughly 377 Ohms. In fact, antennas can be thought of as impedance matching contraptions.

Here’s the thing: fuck the ayatollah and his mullahs and fuck Hamas (neither of those bastards would hesitate to put a bullet in the head of an atheist apostate like me) but that doesn’t mean you attack the people of Iran (most of whom oppose the regime) or Palestine (who also suffer under the yoke of Hamas – an organisation that, furthermore, was funded and supported by Netanyahu’s regime to sabotage the peace process).

If you cannot separate authoritarian regimes from the people being oppressed by them, and if you condone the indiscriminate slaughter of the latter, then don’t be surprised when the same rules end up applying to you… given the way things are going in the United States, for example.

We have rules of combat and international law for a reason. It’s not because we’re morally superior; far from it. It’s because we don’t want that same shit done to us. That’s a dangerous thing to forget.
