i refuse to give into overwhelm.
i am focusing on the things i can change and affect. local protests, local CSAs, local SRAs and DSAs, local senators and representatives, local community meetings. i may not have much say nationally or internationally, but the change we can be in our communities is so loud.
i am focusing on the good i see, even online: creating art especially in times of strife is so important. being visible, being open, being loud about the alternative worlds we can have.
i am taking breaks from the 24-hour news cycle that is trying to break down my resolve, my mental health, and my spirit.
i am strategizing: in community gathering, in how we communicate, in how we can amplify voices that are unsure how to navigate a post-social media landscape.
i will not be overwhelmed; i will be steadfast in the causes i believe in while doing things that may appear unimportant to those who aren’t considering the big picture. we are in the midst of a digital revolution, a changing of the guard, and it would be remiss to stop now.
reminding myself of these things continually brings me strength and pushes me to keep going.
it’s not just a fun hobby, although it is fun; it’s a way to mobilize and confer with the reality of people unglossed by the temptation of content monetization. it is community with those that are also feeling the need to be strong. and it’s important. there must be voices outside of the ones praying to foster apathy.

I recently found out that all of the women who have reported sexual harassment this year to the University of Washington Allen School of CSE received a “needs improvement” on their Review of Progress, except @Hello_KayT presumably because she published both a MICRO and a HotOS paper this year. I’m speechless. If nothing else tells you how UW treats women who complain, this tells you everything. I would give them a needs improvement on .. sexism.

I think it took me roughly 25 hours split over 5 evenings to build. I took it really slow and checked and double checked everything. The biggest mistakes were made last night when I was pushing myself to finish it after spending the morning in the heat on a Coffee and POTA activation. That was risky.
If you want to build one. Take the advice on this video and only build it when you're well rested and with a clear focus. The build isn't hard, just long.

Electrical resistance is not the first quantity that comes to mind when thinking about the deep fundamental laws of nature - it's very much associated with materials science.
Yet, there are two places where it occurs in fundamental physics, even winning a Nobel prize:Space itself has an impedance given by the ratio of electric and magnetic fields in a wave - it's roughly 377 Ohms. In fact, antennas can be thought of as impedance matching contraptions.
