So many of the YouTuber reviews of iPadOS 26 are 'wow, I didn't know these iPad apps had all of these features' upon seeing the menu bar.
Just enforces the point: a menu bar is an educational tool with discoverability built in, just as much as anything else.
I have very strong feelings about this, and it's why I think the menu bar should always be visible in iPad windowing mode

I feel like this is such an easy page to make that it should be a standard thing for any community. I blogged a little more about it here: https://omglol.news/2025/07/01/community-txt
Our own community.txt page can also be found at https://omg.lol/community.txt, or even https://omg.lol/community, but I think the most important change I made was linking to it on our landing page. Transparency is important, and no one should have to go on a scavenger hunt just to learn that youāre not going to be welcome here if you use āwokeā as an insult. š

I realized earlier that we have a bunch of great pages in the omg.lol Info Center, but we were missing something that clearly spelled out what our community is, who itās for, what our values are, and things like that. The kind of stuff that someone might want to know if they were trying to figure out whether theyād feel welcome here.
So, I made a page for it! https://home.omg.lol/info/community

At the very minimum, ICE agents should have to start every shift by walking through a gauntlet of family and neighbors yelling āShame! Shame! Shame!ā while flinging dung and stones.
And they should have to do it barefoot and on fire.
It is a testament to the apathy and incompetence of the American population that ICE agents don't awake in increasingly complex SAW traps

July is #DisabilityPrideMonth
Wait, disability ... pride? Why would someone be proud to be disabled?
One of the most important aspects of disability pride for me is to counter the shame. The shame of ābeing different,ā the shame of āneeding help,ā the shame of ābeing a burden,ā the shame from the humiliation and abuse I have experienced.
Disability pride gives me the chance to counter the shame by saying, āI am disabled, and I am proud to exist and be who I am.ā

As Pride Month comes to a close I just want to remind you: Be Proud Everyday
Pride Month is not the only month where we get to exist in public, its the shared time where we come together, commemorate with our communities about our past and strive for a better future while representing the present. It's the time where we remind the people who still want us to stay down why that will never happen. But it's not the only time you get to be proud to be you.
Every day is a day to be proud to be you

It looks like @cliffwade@infosec.exchange deleted his posts where he was talking about the āgood usesā of established hate symbolism. Iām glad that heās at least no longer actively broadcasting that stance, but since I couldnāt find any kind of post acknowledging the removal or indicating that he changed his views, it unfortunately just looks like heās trying to make it go away and avoid taking any responsibility for himself.
I updated my original post with a link to an archive of what he had said. Continuing to recommend #fediblock due to his defense of hate symbols *and* trying to sweep it all under the rug. (While being a moderator of an instance with thousands of active users. š¬)
