When I came to Penn State in fall 2017, one quickly picked up that we were proud of being a "land grant" school and that this implied (and even required) a public service mission.
In 2020, High Country News released their land grant data and I was appalled to realize what it actually meant.
With votes to close 7 of our campuses, I've seen callbacks to this "land grant" language but it leaves my mouth and stomach bitter so I thought I'd write about what it really means

Apart from the violation of US Federal law and the enormous power that can come from aiming the US military at anything el-presidente slaps a label on, we certainly have a very large, well funded terrorist organization in the US: ICE. It's leaders - named Miller and Noem - should be taken into custody immediately.
Consider if el-cheeto were to label the D legislators of Texas (who are presently not in Texas) as a terrorist organization? You think that that is crazy? It is certainly possible.
