Thanks to a lovely suggestion by one of our members, you can now add a Language field to your omg.lol profile page! Just open the editor and add it in the same format as Occupation and Location (e.g. "| Language: FR, JP, EN")). Save and publish and you’re good to go!

This is also a great time to remind everyone that your omg.lol profile page contains h-card microformat properties by default. You can see the machine-readable output through a parser like this one: https://ruby.microformats.io/microformats?utf8=✓&url=https%3A%2F%2Fadam.omg.lol

Quick, how many domains do you currently own? I'm at a modest 15 domains. And that's after some serious pruning.

I use 4: 2 for website and email, 1 for just email, 1 for cloud stuff.

The San Francisco Bay likes to show off its weather. Karl the Fog moves fast. Everything can change very quickly.

I believe this was the last photo I made away from home before the pandemic reduced my travels.

This story is so offputting to me. Our surveillance state was born of bipartisan effort. There's no such thing as a pro-privacy politician.

Macro photograph of a black and yellow bumble bee waking up and resting in the middle of pink flowers of dogbane, looking at the camera with morning sunlight in its left eye. Some flowers are open, like little bells, others are still closed in buds, on red stems with a green background.

Below shows a terminal tab with the command "llm 'Fun facts about pelicans'" which has generated output listing 5 pelican facts: 1. Huge Beaks: about their enormous beaks and throat pouches for scooping fish and water, some over a foot long; 2. Fishing Technique: about working together to herd fish into shallow water; 3. Great Fliers: about being strong fliers that migrate great distances and soar on thermals; 4. Buoyant Bodies: about having air sacs beneath skin and bones making them extra buoyant; 5. Dive Bombing: about Brown Pelicans diving dramatically from air into water to catch fish.

I got sucked into running the numbers on that "delete emails to save water" thing. Best estimates I can find are that live datacentre storage in the UK has a median water usage of ~80ml/GB/year. So a terabyte of cloud storage consumes 80 litres a year.

Network losses from leaks are on the order of 10-15,000 litres per person per year.

Glad we can see the culprit is definitely old forwarded cat photos.
