Actually, I have an awful lot to hide.

Not because I am a criminal or a tax-evading billionaire, but because I'm a human being.

I am more than just a data mine. I refuse to be reduced to a source of digital commodities. I refuse to be valued at anyone's ad-revenue.

I have a right to decide what others should know about me. And I have a right to know what they will do with what they know.

That's why I have a lot to hide. Not because I must, but because I want to.

Unfortunately, this occupation, its allies, and its suffocating policies are succeeding. Why must we always be given a glimpse of hope, something that eases our pain, only to have it ripped away from us after we’ve struggled so hard to reach it? It is a truly killing feeling one more method of slow death they inflict upon us.
The only small consolation is that the donations will be returned to you. Thank you for standing with us. I will try to find another way.

The whole world, with all its technologies, stands helping this occupation.

Even before this, I suffered from account closures and targeted campaigns against me all meant to silence our voices. Are we truly that frightening? We have no weapons, no ammunition; all we have are our words, our voices refusing to bow to their crimes, and I only write what I live through. Is it written upon us that even our right to speak be stripped away that we must die muted, voiceless, and unheard?

Holy shit, there's really no hope for using KDE with a screen reader, is there?

Just getting into the *accessibility settings* with it and no visual information (closing my eyes) is a complete no-go. You have to use the keyboard to get Orca to speak the labels of any Qt buttons or menu options, and there's no way to tab back and forth between the settings categories, sub categories, and actual options.

(I don't need a screen reader but this is a rabbit hole I've fallen down now)

Excel developers 40 years ago: we've built a world-first recalc system, delivering performant but accurate dynamic cell updating on any architecture or system.

Excel developers now: we added a function that can sometimes give a correct answer. We can't tell if the answer is correct or not. Also it shouldn't be used for numbers in a spreadsheet.

The COPILOT function comes with a couple of limitations, as it can't access information outside your spreadsheet, and you can only use it to calculate 100 functions every 10 minutes. Microsoft also warns against using the AI function for numerical calculations or in "high-stakes scenarios" with legal, regulatory, and compliance implications, as COPILOT "can give incorrect responses."

Just relying on individuals to block bad accounts does not work in the real world. Here's a concrete example:

A black grandfather played with his white grandchildren. His family videoed it and shared this wholesome scene.

Far right racists stole the video, removed the context and claimed it was a paedophile grooming victims. They posted their edited version and a far right moron with over a million racist followers shared the video.

The black grandfather is now living in fear, but the social network (Musk's X) won't take the posts down and the police claim that sharing the video isn't a crime.

It has been exactly zero.

Compared to the cost of a single employee getting sick this shit is basically free. It is cheaper than toilet paper or soda. But somehow.

Well, it looks like the fire service in the United States can't admit that smoke is bad for firefighters because then it would have to admit that it had been putting people at risk for all these years.

This is identical to what we saw healthcare doing during COVID. (Which they did before COVID, and continue to do today.)
