It was a big weekend for the Mastodon team at #FrOSCon in Germany.
If you're curious what we've been working on and what's coming up, as well as updates across the #Fediverse more broadly, @dave provided an update in his talk, "Taking a Fresh Look at the Fediverse".
Fun fact: David was also one of the founding organisers of FrOSCon!

Citing fringe cases of self-hosted, non-thieving, ethically-sourced LLMs and 'genAI' as a 50:50 counterpoint "but not all AI is bad" does not speak to the global scale and scope of this tech feudalist/imperialist project. It is community garden vs big agriculture scale of difference. It is all about power, capture, control.
Look too closely at the tool and you will not see the hand that holds it, nor that it is a weapon.

Matze Schmidt, you are complicit in genocide.

It is very hard time.
We wake up and know we survived again. From the start of the day, we must try to find the basic things we need to live like food and water, but we may not find them.

The recorded BoF session from #DebConf25 is now online!
The session had engaging discussions on having point-update “releases” for LTS with Debusine, packaging security updates for firmware-nonfree, ca-certificates, and work towards compliance with new regulations like the #CRA.

Yes, #Fedilab has some differences between its Google Play version and its #FDroid version.
There are mostly due to restrictions from Google. In the Google app we had to remove:
- Donation links
- Register an account on Mastodon (as they don't want to understand that the app doesn't collect emails).
- Filter some search results with #Peertube to exclude "YouTube Downloader" videosTo Google users, keep in mind you can easily switch to FDroid, we would be happy to help if you have questions
