What really sealed it was the Blorp app for Piefed. It runs circles around Reddit: faster, lighter, more efficient.
Even better, it just shows me what I want. No ads. No gamification. No trashy notifications. I don’t need “streaks” to remind me I exist.
This is one place where the Fediverse doesn’t just compete with Big Social—it crushes it.

I must say, that was the smoothest Debian version upgrade I've ever done. I updated my own personal workstation from Debian 12 to the new Debian 13 release several days ago; 13 came out in early August, but I've been so busy.
No major issues. I run a *lot* of weird shit on my machine. I usually am down for half a day when I upgrade.
I did have to re-build LXDE. Ended up just using the one from apt for now, but I normally run my own modified one built from source.
I love Debian. It's the best.

A flotilla carrying activists and humanitarian aid for Gaza has left Barcelona's port for a second time after the vessels were forced to return a day earlier because of bad weather conditions.

Hello my friends!
All the news say that we might be ordered to evacuate to the South during this month.
We want to stay but we are thinking what if we are forced to leave under fire.
The cost of evacution to the south is unbearable. The tent price is 800-1000$. The transportation price is 600$. The land rent for a tent is around 200$. Setting up a bathroom costs more than 200$.
Please don't leave us alone. Please donate via the link in the bio and share with friends.

All three top stories on the BBC News app are about migration. The top story on #R4Today just now was also about migration.
Is this (as the #R4Today presenter has just claimed) the media reflecting the public’s interest, or is it in fact the public parroting back a media obsession?
Personally, I’m sick to death of this one issue crowding out everything else going on in the world. Repost if you agree.
