Early proponents of this stuff were warned *directly* by browser engineers (incl. yours truly) that this would scale horribly, and indeed the post doesn't even cover the worst performance aspects of this nonsense: by repeatedly perturbing the global style set, CSS-in-JS runtimes *destroy the browser's layout caches*.
