@collinsworth Excellent post. Thanks for sharing!

re: "frontend code" – I don't find things more promising as a backend developer.

One thing I'd previously jotted down for my own post on AI: There's this idea that "we'll just get better at providing context/specification for the AI to properly program things".

But as a SWE, I'm already providing that specification in the most precise way: an unambiguous, deterministic programming language! (Or any number of DSLs for schema, querying, etc.)

I've been working on this post for a couple of months now. It's very personal, characteristically lengthy, and sure to be at least somewhat controversial. Take it (or don't) as you will.

Regarding @nel0x , they did not have any history with the Syncthing (Android) project nor an expressive public profile when they applied to take over the Google Play Store entry in Feb 2025. I accepted this and transferred - believing in good will and we agreed on their task to be publishing what was on my repository to Google Play after their review. If they now desire to make their own app, there is, unfortunately no way to clean up the confusion caused if it is called the same other than kindly asking them to rename it.

When everyone is properly addicted, Google will find a way to charge for it.

I'm getting a LOT of new followers this weekend and today from mastodon.social that claim to be news aggregators. all created in the past 72 hours. Someone's spinning up a MONSTROUS propaganda/fake news campaign out there right now! I'm guessing it's a state level actor. Be cautious and double-check anything that sounds too good to be true or too outrageous to ignore!

A black-and-white street art mural at 2nd Avenue–Houston Street on the F Line in New York City shows three ICE agents detaining the Statue of Liberty. The simplified, bold outline style depicts Liberty standing upright with her torch raised while the agents grab her arms and clothing, one kneeling at her side. The figures are drawn in thick white lines against a matte black wall, creating a stark contrast. A green metal fence runs along the bottom of the scene, and an old sign for a chemist shop is visible above the mural. Artist unknown.

Good morning! I’m currently at Beaverton High School in OR where a mass student walk out has just started to demand a proactive ICE protocol for their school and district.

Students say that similar walkouts were planned at multiple other high schools, including Aloha, Sunset, Southridge & more.

One students says they want the district to collaborate with neighboring districts that have implemented more proactive plans, and to coordinate community response plans for when there are reports of ice activity on/nearby school grounds.

Other schools in neighboring districts have connected with rapid response networks. Students say that there are already teams like this organized in the area and ready to work together
