@fromjason I've been eager to read this but buried in so many other half-read books I already own.
Glad it's making the wheels turn. Much like David Graeber's Bullshit Jobs, just the title alone has had a cultural impact.

Watching tech content like the MKBHD podcast is trippy. It's like they live in an entirely different world than the rest of us.
While I do believe that anyone with a platform should be speaking out on our government's atrocities, I think shaming them for not is a net negative.
But it does make me wonder if there's a threshold. Is there a certain number of deaths that must occur before they speak out, or is it possible to podcast through an entire genocide and never mention it?

Amazing new #C64 demo! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mtVDLxgb4A For those unfamiliar with C64 hardware, the CPU is only 1 MHz and it's not fast enough to redraw the whole screen at a usable rate; there is some incredible hardware bending going on here to pull this stuff off!

That reputable news outlets keep talking as if a group of US investors bought the entirety of TikTok and not just a part of its US assets (ecommerce and ad services apparently not included) should make you at least a little bit more skeptical of how they handle tech and business news in general
TikTok has 1.5 billion users globally but only 135 million in the US. It’s not a small or trivial mistake to conflate the two!

Our free stickers went like hot cakes yesterday at #FOSDEM. The new "My friends are not for sale" ones are all gone, they were an experimental last-minute print of a new design (which is coming soon as a t-shirt, by the way!). Zipbomb JSON.
Someone who is not me should formulate a maximally-malicious JSON file. I made one with a nesting depth of ~182 million, but "jq" gives up early, at only around depth 3,000. So one trick would be to find the right balance of nesting and array length that stays under typical parsers' limits as long as possible, while requiring as much RAM as possible to get there.
