I made a list of possible things centrists tech bros are moping about:

1. Bad Bunny halftime show
2. They heard someone say "Palestine"
3. They remembered the song "Wet Vagina" by Doja Cat exists.
4. They accidentally read a post about "Black joy" and it made their tummy ache
5. Chappell Roan.
6. They think people are too mad at Mark Zuckerberg for being in the Epstein Files.
7. All Birds hasn't had a sale in a while.
8. The city of Atlanta

These guys never want to talk about anything *real*. They thrive in the notion of ideas, but drown in the application of those ideas.

The open/indie/social web is, unfortunately, rife with centrists—people whose only sense of obligation is to their personal comfort. Who equate intelligence with apathy. Who, if ever faced with a teaspoon of oppression, would fold like origami. You'll never fully know what a centrist believes, not because they hide it, but because they're husks. They don't believe in anything. They hear about state sponsored murder and violence and they reach for the mute button. Truly the worst of them.

"AI is built on the collective knowledge of humankind."

No. Nononononono. It is not built on _knowledge_, it it built on _data_. And not everyone's experiences are available as data, many communities are excluded. Also: "Collective" implies some sort of collaboration and shared activity. But "AI" is just accumulation by a few powerful.

So No. It's not collective but extractive, not knowledge but data, not humankind but the hegemonic western view. Everything in that statement is wrong.

Post from El Paso city council rep
https://www.reddit.com/r/ElPaso/s/axgESDu7FP

Post from /u/ChrisCanalesEPTX : Update thread on FAA closure of El Paso airspace There are multiple posts about this issue that are getting difficult to track, so l'm going to try to consolidate my updates here in one place. I've been up all night trying to get information to share with the public, but we're just not getting much from the federal government at the moment. We have no reason to believe that there is any kind of imminent safety threat to El Paso, but we still have no reason provided by the FAA or any federal authority, and that lack of explanation is obviously fueling fear and speculation in our community. FAA contacts, including those at the phone number listed in the notice, have said they also don't know the reason. What's especially troubling is that there appears to have been no advance notice to local government, airport leadership, or even local Air Traffic Control or local military leadership. If El Paso International Airport has to close for 10 days, the economic hit to El Paso could be $40-50 million or more. I will continue pushing for answers and will share updates in the comments on this post as soon as I am able. Follow @flyelp on instagram for official updates directly from the El Paso International Airport.

One of my goals this year is getting better at CSS. I joke that my CSS skills peaked in 2015. But CSS has gained a ton of new, really cool things and browser support has been moving quickly compared the days of old.

This talk by Dylan Beattie from NDC London 2026 is a great introduction to what CSS is capable of these days.

I’m also slowly working through a course called CSS for JavaScript Developers by Josh Comeau, which is fantastically done.

GW: With digital editing, it is now possible to create a situation where you could jam with any artist from the past. Would you ever consider doing something like that? O(+>: Certainly not. That's the most demonic thing imaginable. Everything is as it is, and it should be. If I was meant to jam with Duke Ellington, we would have lived in the same age. That whole virtual reality thing... it really is demonic. And I am not a demon. Also, what they did with that Beatles song ["Free As a Bird"], manipulating John Lennon's voice to have him singing from across the grave... that'lI never happen to me. To prevent that kind of thing from happening is another reason why I want artistic control.
