@protonprivacy effectively handing over credit card data of someone who has not committed a crime, makes them no different than any American tech company.

The story also reminds me of one more thing that, pardon my language, "privacy freaks" are ignoring en-masse.
NO ENTITY, not a single one, no matter what they claim, will go against law enforcement, when it knocks on their door, unless they have some super powerful legal leverage (at which point LEA won't go in there in the first place unless you're in a place with "Gestapo on crack" LEAs at which point nothing saves you from "chains and gallows") or they're "untouchable" (which would more likely be a red flag because how come they're untouchable).
But when LEA comes in with "Comply or Die", you only have these options, comply or die.

My editor (#Helix) can easily search/page through previous days, so I don't feel the need to keep everything in one file.

If I have a topic that I know I'll collect notes on over a long time span I'll just create a file for that topic.

There are a dozen or more ways to see more content from people important to you, least of all leaving it up to a black box algorithm that would need to collect data on who your friends and family are.
