@fromjason the way AI could become a kind of capital they can control is if it just gets inserted everywhere regardless of whether it's useful or not. So that—to within a rounding error—all knowledge work and just general daily activity involves an AI at one or several stages. Because at that point, it's no longer a product, it's the literal environment that information flows through.

The image proposes a "Pride versioning" system for software, contrasting with the standard semantic versioning.  Proud version: The major version number (e.g., 2 in 2.7.123) is incremented for releases the team is proud of. Default version: The minor version number (e.g., 7 in 2.7.123) is for normal or okay releases. Shame version: The patch version number (e.g., 123 in 2.7.123) is bumped when fixing embarrassing issues.

New video footage shows a US Tomahawk missile hitting an IRGC facility in Minab, Iran, on Feb 28, showing for the first time that the US struck the area. The footage also shows smoke already rising from the vicinity of the girls’ school, where 175 people were reportedly killed, including children.

The footage appears to contradict President Donald Trump’s claim it was an Iranian missile that hit the school on Feb. 28.

You can now buy a MacBook, iPhone, and iPad for just over $1,500. All are fairly capable machines that run native software.

The new MacBook Neo is particularly interesting because its existence implies a more powerful counterpart—perhaps a new MacBook Pro "Ultra" that could run a native LLM or agentic AI model.

All this is, imo, a good thing. Or, better than the alternative. Apple's hardware strategy might be the only thing in the way of the rest of big tech's cloud-first strategy.
