Nan Pierce decided to sell her liberal media empire to the highest right-wing bidder before the Roy kids even landed on her helipad.

Not to save democracy, not to preserve journalism's integrity, but to further enrich herself; to close the deal before her company loses any more value. So, she puts on a show— for her daughter, her political adversaries, for herself.

In s4e1 "The Munsters," Nan Pierce feigns agony over the billion-dollar bidding war unfolding in her sunroom. It is my favorite bit of Nan-Theatre of the series:

"Oh, I don’t like this. It makes me feel like I’m in the middle of a bidding war. Horrible. Different people saying different numbers. Eight, nine. What’s next?"

Choosing Roman to clock Nan for her bullshit is perfect:

Roman and Shiv sitting on a couch. Roman: "it's so confusing. What comes after nine? Nine B?

Okay, as much as I enjoyed the Ember heated mug I bought some years back when I was more willing to spend frivolously, I kind of like the $22 mug warmer plate I bought as a “replacement” even more.

A reddish-brown coffee mug sitting on a small, round mug warming plate, which has a black top and wooden sides. It’s sitting on a wooden desk in front of a speaker.

compilers ironically have less of a problem because they can work on the macro-resolved language and build for a single target.

"I think that until the bubble bursts, AI will be used by quite a few game companies, and perhaps even beyond the bubble," says Brandon Sheffield of Necrosoft Games, which released the RPG Demonschool last year. "Look, I am not a fool — I understand that AI has some uses. Primary among those being the devaluing of work, the cheapening of labour, the laying off of creatives, and the generation of busywork for humans to fix whatever AI generates." "It's also useful for burning through water, raising the prices of RAM and chipsets globally, and poisoning anyone near the data centres that run them. So there are a lot of use cases for AI. From spurring on the death of the creative endeavour to dissolving our economy, AI is absolutely gangbusters at what it does. We don't use it in our studio though."

Just one trans woman's opinion, but I hold that the ideal way to recover from accidentally misgendering a person and being called out is to simply repeat the sentence, corrected.
