There is a war in Iran, 15 Americans have been killed, 538 have been wounded, and $25,000,000,000 have been spent so far.

After firing dozens of generals and skilled personnel, Pete Hegseth has now brought in Kid Rock to address The Pentagon.

The world is hurting from an unprecedented oil crisis to the tune of Kid Rock singing “All summer long”. Because your education does not matter, your reputation does not matter — in fascism, all that matters is loyalty to the leader.

Low vaccine uptake can also speed flu spread among all ages, particularly seniors, who make up the majority of people who are hospitalized or killed by influenza.

@Gasmatt @DrALJONES I'd say it's far worse than on-par, when we see what IDF soldiers have done and what lies were spread about atrocities that never happened and so on. Not to mention the sheer disparity in death toll, starvation, sickness, education centres and residences destroyed. The destruction is so utterly one-sided, even granting the horrors of the terrorist attacks in retaliation for the past several decades (that Netanyahu himself has poured funding into!)

Watching Settlers & IDF army behave as Einsatzgruppen, while journalists deliberately murdered & IDF navy commit acts of piracy in international waters is truly depressing. International community does nothing, antisemitism rife as a result. October 7 2023 attacks vile, but this is now on a par. Wake up Israel- you are being judged.

Oh Mullenweg exploded again.

The thing is: He criticizes processes and slow pace (which one can do) but his solution basically is no process and just winging it. Which - given wordpress runs millions of people's websites - is just childish and irresponsible. It's the classical "strong man" argument.

Wordpress' processes might be problemattic ( ;) ) but that also stems from lack of vision and lack of establishing modes and spaces for experimentation where people are not afraid that Mullenweg is gonna publicly shit on them for not loving LLMs enough.

The problem is still weak leadership. Who is the leader again?

My only quibble is that I am (again) paraphrased as if I talked about "AI" as a thing, or used "AI" to refer to language models. I'm sure what I said to Holly Baxter here was "language models" have these uses. I've asked for a correction.

In general, if you see me quoted/paraphrased in the media and the term "AI" is outside the quotes, that's gonna be a journalist mis-paraphrasing me.

Screencap from linked article: In Bender’s view, there is simply no good way to interact with an LLM. AI itself can be “extremely useful for things like automatic transcription and machine translation. There's a role for that kind of technology,” she says. “But turning it around into this chatbot interface and producing synthetic text by repeatedly answering ‘what's a likely next word’? That is not technology that I see beneficial use cases for.”

Screencap from linked article: There’s a reason why these are referred to as “technologies of isolation,” she adds: because it simply isn’t a neutral choice to talk to Claude or Grok or ChatGPT about your loneliness. It is a choice that ends up “weakening your connections” and driving you further away from the human beings who could actually help you.
