also whatever changed here really highlights that I don't understand how the Blender Foundation is structured, given that people are okay with CoreWeave (?!) and Meta being in this club, but Anthropic is a bridge too far, but they're still keeping the _money_ from Anthropic? Or maybe it has something to do with the "Corporate Patron" level specifically? Anyway… general point still somewhat valid, but yelling at Blender was apparently a good idea and did achieve something

you know that feeling when you're talking with someone in a language you don't know all the words in and you're using translate and you realise you've no idea if it's given you something correct or not?
that must be what vibe coding is like for people who can't code.

okay so I stand by what I said about harassment and *in general* engaging with foundations and nonprofits, but I gotta publicly take an L here on the *implication* that the community's feedback was too intense, because apparently they received that feedback and acted upon it https://www.blender.org/news/upcoming-blender-development-fund-and-ai-policies/

they listened to the community and dropped anthropic <3
EDIT: I am aware that they still accepted a one-time donation from anthropic. If this is a problem for you go tell the blender folks about it.
EDIT2: I am not your abuse receptacle, and I will block you and forget you ever existed if we're strangers and you try to unload your frustration about this onto me.

When devs spend $200 on a Claude plan, they consume about $5,000 in compute. That is right. It is heavy subsidization by Anthropic. Remember Google/Amazon/Nvidia/ Microsoft & others are funding Anthropic and they are buying back cloud services and GPUs from the same vendors. On the books, it seems Google, Amazon and Nvidia are all making profits via AI, but the reality is this is just circulating money with heavy subsidization hoping to trap retail, pension funds, Govt funds via IPO route.
