Seriously though, Tolkien was a Serious Thinker writing Serious Literature. I mean yes, he had a villain called Grima Wormtongue -- you know, of the Chicago Wormtongues -- but that's completely different than, like, "Luke Starkiller".

really happy to see that the quote-post on Mastodon hasn't led to a bunch of toxic dunking. it's nice that you can turn it off, and the vast majority of quotes i see are adding something positive or offering an intelligent critique.

I think I'm going to take the #keepassxc challenge starting right now. I've been running it for a long time, but only for managing ssh keys. I've just imported all my non-shared #bitwarden secrets to it and have turned bw off on my daily driver for now. It is all very disorienting, as expected, but we shall see how it all works out. I can always fail back to bw if I need to.
In this, the Year of Our Apocalypse 2026, Rockbox still cannot display EXIF album art if it is a progressive JPEG of *any* minuscule size or resolution.
I can't even.
Also, while you can finally have a playlist with up to 32,000 songs, "shuffle all tracks" is still hardcoded to 2,000.
I'm starting to think that their heart just isn't in this any more.

Never trust anything but inference from a vendor. And even then, verify.
The actual products are so manipulable.

One problem they are running into is that they can't deskill people fast enough.
People are still going to make art. People are still going to write programs. People are still going to keep putting out human creations.
If everyone quit making art tomorrow, AI slop would seem a lot more viable, but these annoying artists won't fucking quit just because they aren't being paid for a work product.
