This. Small startups with good focus can suddenly do a LOT. Teams that struggled with quality can focus on that and have more capacity for it. But mostly the industry is bottlenecked on _figuring out what to build_, and how to build it within security and compliance constraints. That is a process involving _people_., at people speeds.

A whole lot of goats of different shapes and sizes, eating grass and dandelions in a grassy area surrounded by electronet. There's a line of spruce trees behind them, and the sky above is cloudy.

that doesn't mean you shouldn't be wary, doesn't mean you should be suddenly cutting them slack on other issues they have, or pretend their work culture and ethics are flawless, even when it comes to the LGBTQIA+ topics.

But it does feel rough to see colleagues who are 100% well intentioned getting shouted at and hated for no other reason than people perceiving it as hostility, when it really is not what it's intended to be.

I really wish people would come together more. We're in this together

Seeing the whole 'corporate pride is fake' thing going around again, and I have a few thoughts to share on this;

  1. those are usually organized by actual LGBTQIA+ allies at those companies, not just empty marketing- but that's my personal experience.

  2. This is also the reason why you won't see it in countries which are actively hostile and make it actually illegal to be LGBTQIA+ aligned, not because they're 'selective'.

  3. I'd rather have more, than less allies, but that's my personal take.

because to be quite frank, it takes quite a lot of coordinated efforts to set up and carry forth pride events at e.g big tech companies.

And to go through all that effort, just to be met with hostility from people who you presumed to be actual allies, is disheartening, and feels very wrong.

If you want to build a better world, if you want places everywhere to be more friendly towards these things, I personally don't think infighting over what is essentially puritanism, will do anyone a favour.

I really have to stress that the "hypothetically" parenthetical here is load-bearing. Nobody has *actually* had any code deleted yet by one of these LLMs, as a result of this logged prompt. If such a deletion did occur, who could even tell if it were the prompt's fault? As several production incidents have demonstrated, you're rolling dice with the deletion of all your data each time you invoke an agent anyway, this just _maybe_ weights the dice a bit differently, in a way that can't be measured

8 panel comic Panel 1: Yellow guy is working on a laptop in the background. In the foreground is a Brand Manager. Yellow Guy: “Sir, shall I put up our rainbow profile picture?” Panel 2: Brand Manger snaps his head round and hisses “Cool your jets, Eugene. I’m checking the Profitometer” Panel 3: Gonna do my best to explain this. We see The Profitometer. A huge machine that whirs and ticks. A digital display at the top of the machine reads “Supporting Pride equals”Beneath this display is a huge gauge with “Max Loss” on the left and “Max profit” on the right. There is a needle that is pointing exactly half way between the two extremes. Panel 4: Close up on Brand Manager’s face. His teeth are gritted. Sweat trickles down his brow. Panel 5: Close up on gauge. The needle remains exactly central Panel 6: Close up on Brand Manager’s eyes. They are concentrating intensely. Also, more sweat. Panel 7: Close up on the gauge. The needle clicks ONE DEGREE towards profit Panel 8: Brand Manager screams like a football coach “GO GAY EUGENE”
