I have actually experienced this one - it is supposed to have some tool to spawn background tasks so that it can cancel them, but like all its tools, it prefers to just do everything via the shell and routinely just forks a shell and forgets about it. It seems like it can also fork another agent session and forget about it, and then it becomes invisible to every mechanism of reporting to the user "you have an active session burning tokens"

So like, at every level, even the ones that should be totally deterministic like "the active logged in sessions for your account" are also somehow nondeterministic.

The thing that is extra funny to me is that many of these are also clearly written by the LLM, so its the LLM complaining about how the LLM is broken, and the person that presumably is somewhere in the process doesn't see anything wrong with a machine that is clearly failing to do even the most basic task being the thing explaining why it is failing even the most basic task

This person reports how they tried to get fable to build a thing to process some data, but instead burned 12 days of usage on it generating thousands of commits and hundreds of GB of data doing absolutely nothing. It was supposed to build some validation thing that wraps the data processing pipeline, but it never built the pipeline itself, so it then went into a delirium of validating the validator and doing everything except the thing it was supposed to

Published a tool I made a while ago (process-hook), which automatically runs some code whenever a particular process starts or exits on your system. I use it mainly to automatically lower the IO priority for my torrent client and Filelight. But you can just run whatever code.

That idea that you're being "left behind" or "staying in the stone age" if you don't start using AI? It's not real. I know that it feels real, and like it's everywhere around you, but it's not. You are intentionally being made to feel this way.

This is a propaganda technique that was perfected in the cryptocurrency/NFT industry, using FOMO and peer pressure to draw you into investment scams because it seemed like everything around you was starting to adopt it. But that was still a pretty limited scale.

AI companies do the same thing, except at a global scale. That's why there's the constant claims about what AI models can supposedly do, that are debunked two days later. And why everybody talks about how much money they're putting into it. And the constant doom trolling about how AI will 'take over the world'.

The whole point of all of this is to make it *feel* inevitable, to make it feel bigger than it really is in everyone's lives, to make you feel like everyone *else* is accepting it and you're the only weird old fossil who doesn't like it. None of it is real, even if it feels that way.
