Folks, I say this with love, because it has been an issue for several media personalities whose work I really enjoy and appreciate:

An audience can forgive scuffed video but you really, really need to get your audio situation sorted out if you want people to keep watching & listening.

yes, absolutely, it's the people who train and sell the AI who deserve your hate

what do you mean that isn't what you meant?

I think this mirrors the experience of many. Executives have either bought the narrative from someone they trust or are actually AI brainwormed, and middle management has a gun to their head about it, so they nod and smile. The result is a death spiral in which almost everyone thinks this a terrible idea, but nobody can speak truth to power.

There are too many good quotes in this piece to pull. Just go read it.

the things I want from "siri AI" that I'm not going to get:

- "here's how I pronounce this" so I can launch things like "Authy" with a voice command (try it)
- disable _all_ cloud interaction, even if it makes some things less reliable
- a reference sheet of commands so I can understand its capabilities
- explicit preference for "respond only to my voice"
- error handling in Shortcuts

none of these things involve an LLM, and attempting to cram LLMs into it makes most of them worse

For anyone who didn't manage to see the finished LED corset and fibre optic skirt, here they are out in the field.

The LEDs are sewn with conductive thread. The fibre optic skirt isn't very bright, and somehow the only photos of me that *aren't* totally blurry are the ones where the skirt is also blue but i promise, it looked cool irl!

Thanks to everyone who came to say hi at #emfcamp -it was great to be encouraged to infodump to my heart's content about everything and anything.

Charlie is wearing a corset with 18 blue LEDs along the sides of the front panel. The corset has constellation patterns on the other fabric, abd the front panel is navy blue. They are also wearing a fibre optic skirt with blue light showimg faintly through some of it and a tildagon on a light up usb cable around their neck. They look very happy.

I am proud I managed to get the fist to work. I was worried about that because hands are hard and I couldn't get a good outline in chalk. So I was like "fuck it, let's just embroider it and see how badly it goes" and I'm actually quite happy with the result

Embroidery of a teal platypus. Someone who knows the character well (or reads the alt text) might recognise this as Perry the Platypus, but it is a very unfinished embroidery showing only part of the outline (a fist, some legs, the main body and the eyes) and it is partly filled in with teal, with the legs being most filled in and parts of the sides partly filled in
