And thanks @dfir for mentioning Manton's distinction between "political values" and "indieweb principles". I went and looked up the quote and it's really strking
"Politics can inspire us to build a better world. That’s certainly how I felt after the 2016 election, leading to the Micro.blog launch. But without a foundation in open web principles, there’s no lasting direction or strategy. There are only reactions to whoever or whatever we oppose."
That's exactly backwards! Without a grounding in opposition to anti-racism, anti-fascism, surveillance capitalism -- all things that Manton considers "political" -- "open web principles" lead people like him to working with fascists and bigots.

@neatnik Manton wrote the other day about not confusing “political values” with “indieweb design principles”. What isn’t taken into account are HUMAN VALUES, which underlie all of life with other humans. He wants his indieweb to be neutral and impersonal. I want my indieweb to be designed and operated to reflect the inherent dignity of all people and to show them respect. It’s an element of a design for a better future world. It is true that politics these days reflect a disregard for human decency, which is admittedly confusing to some folks. The politics will not change without efforts to uphold human values and decency. It’s not about personal attacks, but about building a better and more decent world. Neutral gets humanity nowhere. @manton

There is only one path out of this. We need a *fully auditable, formally verified, and human-understandable* capability-secure trusted computing base as the foundation of our operating systems.
Otherwise... we're just toast.

OpenAI was running an exploit test system in a sandbox. Their model determined that probably Hugging Face had model information that would be useful to complete the task, so it broke out of its sandbox, developed an exploit, broke into Hugging Face to go rooting around for information
