In my humble opinion, many instances of ‘writer’s block’ are in fact ADHD or autistic burnout. Writing as a job is more forgiving of neurodivergence than most, so many writers are basically subsisting on caffeine and anxiety until they hit a brick wall and their executive function collapses
Which would mean that reading up on neurodivergent burnout is more likely to help get over a writer’s block than the fluff you find in books or blogs on creativity

This is beyond cartoonishly evil:
- AI companies buy rare books from bookstores, because they're free from slop.
- Books get fed to the slopmachine, destroying the books in the process.
- AI companies don't publish digital books, potentially removing the book from society forever.
- Society gets more information that's only accessible via the slop extruding device.
Fuck everything about this, this is happening internationally, with millions of books.

🔋 MIT just published the most comprehensive EV emissions study yet, analyzing every US zip code with real driving data.
Battery EVs cut lifetime emissions 40-60% vs gas cars in most locations. Even on the dirtiest grid in the country, they still come out ahead. The study used DOE's GREET lifecycle model, which already includes battery manufacturing. So the "but what about making the batteries?" question is answered: building an EV produces 50-80% more CO2 upfront, but it pays that back over the vehicle's life.
Your driving habits matter as much as where you live. High mileage, city driving, and larger vehicles all boost the EV advantage. Cold weather cuts efficiency on a frigid night but barely dents annual savings.
The "who benefits from the doubt?" question has a paper trail. The API has run anti-EV messaging since 1967. Koch-funded groups planned $10M/year campaigns. AFPM dropped $10M+ on "Don't Ban Our Cars" ads in 2024 swing states.

The commentariat has become infested with people who have no other reason to be in #media or #journalism than social-climbing and seeking the proximity of men of influence (and the occasional woman), giving themselves freely over to corruption and nepotism and swapping bribes.

That's what Elon Musk always deserved. He was patently a fraud, transparently a cheat and a fake, a person who was mainly good at nepotism and getting other people to cover for his blunders. But U.S. #media and #journalism and #politics were all hot to pile onto the 100% fake synthetic Elon Musk bandwagon which must surely have been built chiefly at the behest of his mom, Maye Musk, who has always been quietly standing behind her difficult unpredictable son all these years, who connived with Walter Isaacson in writing Musk's official hagiography.
How on Earth could all the journalists and reporters not noticed? There's many answers to that. Journalism has given up the better part of its lifeblood to capitalism, and it's hep to hate journalists again.
