The idea is to bring together the EOL business model from HeroDevs and use that to help further some of the Commonhaus software catalog

This one feels different to me because it has a sensible scope instead of "all of open source"

Hi everyone! Just a quick reminder that due to the current DRAM/eMMC shortage, there isn't any plans to continue producing more Linux devices in the near future. Whether production continues or not depends on the pricing situation for those components after mid 2027.

Devices like the PineNote and PineTab2 are currently estimated to run out of stock in three months time. Just pre-warning everyone in case people start asking when things are going to be in stock again.

Meanwhile, devices like the PineTime, PineVoice and Pinecil will continue production as usual!

As for the PineTime Pro, currently the demo firmware has basic drivers for the display, touch, motion, GPS, buttons, heat rate sensor (chip id only), battery charger, motor, microphone and the speaker. Though some issues do need to be ironed out first before a pilot batch begins production.

That's it for this post, all in all it's a bit bleak for the Linux devices, but in the meantime PineStore still have a great lineup of MCU powered devices which will continue to expand with more exciting devices.

That idea that there are the Real Guys who know what they're doing is horribly pernicious in my mind. I have had the experience of being in a room where someone said, "fortunately we have an expert to help us resolve this" and thinking "oh thank fuck", then realising they were referring to me.

On the flip side of that, some of the more productive conversations I've had are when I got open and technical with someone who would count as several rungs higher up because I simply had no idea who they were - social obliviousness can be a boon!

On Thursday, @chrisamaphone and @simrob and I were talking at dinner about the concept of “vibesickness” and trying to put our collective fingers on what, exactly, it is. We were settling on the concept of “the thing that happens to someone when they spend too much time interacting with an LLM, and they become like one inasmuch as they forget how to think and analyze in depth on their own”. Or writing that is indistinguishable from an LLM, or people who depend on them for even simple writing tasks that they would otherwise have done without thinking about it. To borrow a phrase from the mechanical purée of text, it’s not psychosis compose-hyphen-hyphen-hyphen it’s subclinical, but it’s just sad.

I was explaining this to someone else recently, and I went back to look at the primary sources for this term – @cwebber ‘s piece on the Vibe Bobsled, which, in turn, cites a @glyph toot. I was surprised at the usage and definitions there! It feels ambiguous, especially in @glyph ‘s original toot: does vibesickness refer to all of the rest of us survivors becoming ill at the sight of what the world around us is turning to (“sick of vibes”)? Or does it refer to the thing where you know it when you see it, and a specific person has become vibesick by prolonged exposure to a neurotoxin (“sick from vibes”)?

Fediverse, please resolve this question for me, in the form of a poll. (And, if it’s the former, what’s the word I want for the latter, especially given that “psychosis” is a defined technical term that does not refer to this?)
