Before I just search through Etsy I would love to find such artists on fedi. :blobcatcoffee:

I look for something similar to one attached.

If we include some recent estimates of private debt that the major LLM companies had tried to keep off of their books, then we get around 3 Trillion USD sunk into this bubble.

According to this one study mentioned in an article by The Guardian, 330 Billion USD might be sufficient to permanently end world hunger. That's from almost six years ago, so maybe we need to adjust a bit for inflation, but either way we're uncomfortably close to the point of having been able to end hunger ten times over.

There's actually a whole pile of stuff telling it how elixir is not like javascript or python.

but at least the design will be polish, responsive, visually stunning, unique and world-class 😂

Okay given that my platypus embroidery updates got such overwhelmingly positive responses on Fedi (and offline) I'm considering making #embroidery to sell.

I want to know how much I might be able to sell embroidery for. Fedi, what would your budget be for e.g. a hand-embroidered piece you saw online/in a crafts fair?

@cwebber I volunteer in a used bookshop and asked my store manager about this. She was just as annoyed about the practice as I was, if not moreso!

Now, one of the things you quickly learn when working in a used bookshop is that donations keep on coming in but not everything sells or is sellable. There's ways to bulk-sell books on the cheap but sometimes even that isn't enough and a lot of stuff gets thrown into recycling. This is one of those things you have to learn to make peace with as a used bookseller.

But there does seem to be something different about having AI companies buy and pulp the books and the normal process of weeding out unsellable books. I expect a key difference is intent; you work at used bookstores because you like books and therefore you're motivated to keep as many (especially rare books) out of the trash pile as you can while these AI companies hoover up these books without a care
