okay. now we're doing the slightly tedious work of making sure every single assembly instruction comment that Evocation's hex transform outputs is formatted exactly the way we want it to be - covers the correct span of bytes, has the parameters in the correct order, all that

@aburka @neatnik I tell people who bring Omarchy up enthusiastically about DHH's fascism and about how bad the code is.

So far even two very AI pilled individuals (one fight at the time) are horrified enough to either say they won't check it out anymore or to stop bringing it up.

But it's worrying how being aligned on vibe coding makes these people enthusiastically extol this shiny new thing without the most rudimentary background check - another example of AI addiction eroding critical thinking, or increaaing people's impatience I guess

the bitter pill for critics to swallow here is that we are going to find ways to be forgiving or at least diplomatic when dealing with boosters. we need to find ways to offer boosters community. this is going to involve being clear-eyed about the *very big difference* between the kind of booster who runs Omarchy because they get some free tokens with it and it had a cool YouTube video and the kind of booster who runs Omarchy because they are Excited About The Whole Project.

Big year for nuance.

I just lost my job today, so here we go..

I'm a ~30 years career Sysadmin/DevOps/Server Shepard/Graybeard whatever its called now UNIX nerd.

Looking for work doing UNIX'y stuff. I mostly do automation, and have avoided working with AI and Kubernetes (though I have a bit of k8s experience at two jobs, I just prefer "the old way")

Chef, Puppet, Cfengine, Ansible, Shell scripts, etc.

I've built Linux distributions, and automation tools. Having worked at Redhat, TurboLinux, Penguin Computing, Salesforce, and Chef.

Built and maintained monitoring systems, checks, and lived the on-call life.

Built and managed CI systems, and Pipelines.

I've written and maintained software in Ruby, Python, and Shell. I've dabbled in just about every other programming language you'll find on a UNIX system.

I have spent a lot of time with *BSD, Solaris, IRIX, and Linux, and to a lesser extent HPUX, and AIX.

If its sysadmin work on a UNIX, I've likely done it.

Remote only / West Michigan maybe / not willing to relocate

It’s hard to convey the scale and scope of how cooked a generation of people are by LLM slop.

“You can use AI to improve efficiency but make sure you double-check all its output to make sure it isn’t just hallucinating bullshit” thanks that’s actually more work and thus less efficient than not using an LLM at all.

“You have to double-check LLM output, but also if the task is too complicated or complex to figure out on your own, you should use an LLM” thanks but if it’s too complicated to figure out on your own, then you can’t double-check the output.

Just absolutely cooked.

@sabrina By contrast, all modern software is much more streamlined, functional, and flat, lacking even the texture of skeuomorphism, let alone the physicality of earlier experiments like eWorld, a BBS, a FirstClass node, or an MMO. They don't just paint the walls a pastel neutral blue and lower all the chairs into a hidden cabinet when the meeting is done
