SF doesn't celebrate politicians that just relentlessly make quality of life improvements like Mamdani. When Matt Haney noticeably reduced the number of human turds on the street, it wasn't heralded as a major win.

Example 4:
SF people with degrees in Applied Math from places like MIT and CalTech, and job titles like Data Scientist, still believed the laughably impossible math that Black people could shoplift Fortune 500 companies out of business during the Covid lockdowns.🤦🏿‍♂️

NYC people with the same degrees in Applied Math from MIT and CalTech and job titles like Quant, or Trader, did not believe those laughably bad lies. Because they can read a P&L and an earnings report.

So SF was more primed for government cruelty against starving Black people than NYC was.

It's pretty simple. You're hearing "We're so scared of the AIs, we need to reign them in" from the very US companies building and selling them for two reasons:

- They're about to IPO, and it's amazing marketing for them
- They want a regulatory moat, since they're deeply worried about the open weight LLMs. They want everyone dependent on this tech and to be *the only ones legally permitted to dispense it*.

His follower count goes up by hundreds of thousands, he gets media attention everywhere, and suddenly everyone is talking about LLM like it's a mind, and not a computer with an OFF switch.

At the same time, Nvidia hard launches the term "AI Factory" to rebrand datacenters and try and raise 500 billion dollars from your retirement fund.

I dunno gang, I think I'm calling shenanigans on this.

OK so the reason this is cool is because now the color sliders are not being rendered pixel by pixel, doing manual interpolation and converting each pixel into RGB before painting it. It is now rendering it as a gradient in the target color space and using the renderer's support for color spaces to convert the final thing into RGB for the widget.

This means that gradient interpolation in other color spaces works. And that rainbow bar is possible with just two color stops.

I guess `const` just causes the variable to be inlined at every call site. Where `static` creates a single instance that can be referenced.

I'd missed learning/internalizing that nuance since, when I reach for const, it's usually for things that are `Copy` anyway, like a `u64` or `&str`.
