When I'm working on a complex codebase with a lot of existing/institutional weight, and I want to make a significant change for the better, I have to introduce temporary inconsistency in order to have the new coexist with the old, until the new can take over. Depending on the scope of the change, this transitional state can last a long time. As a failure mode, it can be indefinite 😅 But if you don't want the codebase to be forever crystallized as The Thing It Was In 2015, the price of change is transitional hypocrisy.

I think this applies to people too, and is a reason that online discourse tends to be so consistent at polarizing people and entrenching beliefs. We are constantly rounding people to their nearest official party, which is not necessarily a good thing for freedom of ideological motion, particularly for persuading people leftward.

I didn't add a "What you can do" section to this piece because for most folks, the best thing you can do is not believe these charlatans.

But if you're in a position where you must use or build with these tools, I implore you to build in such a way that their disappearance is not catastrophic. They should never be critical junctures in any workflow.

Maybe I've been sheltered from this due to my specific jobs/roles but I've seen a few people suggesting that "AI has removed the most time consuming part of software development, coding" and I have never felt like coding was ever the time consuming part.

So I’ve got some ideas for apps that could be built fairly quickly and make some side cash. Problem is I need collaborators and I also have some strong beliefs — the most important ones are:

1. I don’t want to build anything using GenAI
2. I prefer partners, not followers
3. I prefer to use Slicing Pie to figure out how to allocate shares of the earnings
4. I prefer to use rapid iteration using tools like Lean Startup and XP
