One year ago, not even Republicans called communism a problem. It was not and is not a problem, it is only a way for Republicans to scare the stupidest voters. For decades, the Kremlin was the center of communist power. Trump continues to help Putin, the Kremlin's ruler, while Putin helps Iranians kill Americans. Trump is having a friendly meeting with the ruler of communist China. Trump is a friend to the ruler of communist North Korea. Notice a pattern?

Yes, you can download and use a “local LLM” to help protect your privacy.

But think of all the stolen work and privacy violations it took to create the model in the first place… and how much electricity and water was wasted to make it available to you!

It’s still horrible for creators and for the Earth.

So tempted to just use a different microphone in every video just as a gag, but I really do need to settle on one approach and just get into better practice with it. 😝

Besides microphone technique (or lack thereof) hydration has been a surprisingly big factor in the audio quality so far. I can easily tell the from my recorded voice when I was less well hydrated. More mouth noises, clicks, and there's a stickiness to the voice.

Possibly unsurprisingly*, second day serverside analytics, tiny as they are, for the podcast feed already leans Android:

PodcastAddict: 18
AntennaPod: 6
Apple Podcasts: 2
Overcast: 1

Total: 27

(* The audience for my newsletter and Mastodon account lean open source, academic, and idealistic.)

Okay… how do you

1. make everything super huge like the text and pictures… while
2. having way more empty space than you need _AND STILL_ have to
3. truncate your text labels?
4. All this space for only 3 articles/pages?

8 of the 9 text labels are truncated.

Can we _please_ have designers who know how to design for _DESKTOP_ software and *** NOT *** magazines/print? Please, for the love of god.

I just released avash: https://www.keithcirkel.co.uk/avash/

It’s like blurhash but uses av1 frame data encode an image, resulting in a (typically) more readable image in the same bytes as a blurhash.
