Absolute truth.

I wonder when GoToSocial gets collections, so I can post my lists of AI-free artists and nature photographers

page after page of this and now I'm starting to doubt myself. *is* Claude… literally not real? Is ChatGPT an elaborate demo where they just got a bunch of software engineers in India hopped up on coke and typing real fast on the other end of a chat UI? that would explain where all the money for all those dark GPUs are going, I guess?

like… LLMs… do… exist. they do stuff. interesting and confounding stuff and stuff worthy of research, if not, in my opinion, net-utility useful stuff. machine learning and previous iterations of "AI" are unambiguously useful in various contexts. I think it’s firmly on Microsoft’s shoulders, the rollout of Recall and Copilot+ PC was just a series of own goals. They had huge expectations for it in terms of consumer demand and just.. didn’t think it through on many levels.

Crazy day!

- Finished fixing a tricky bug I've been working on for a few days.
- Fixed another bug right away, which I didn't even know what to do about at first.
- Had carpets in my house cleaned.
- Rebuilt shelving in my studio closet and rearranged/got rid of a lot of stuff.
- Did a run in pouring rain.

So happy to not just have sat the whole day watching Internet.
