A social media post advises against using campus resources for sexual assault, urging survivors to seek off-campus help, rape care hotlines, or SART hospitals, and warns schools minimize incidents. Text on a black background.

"When the U.S. government imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) in early 2025, the consequences were far-reaching yet quickly enforced.

The restrictions cut off the ICC chief prosecutor's access to Microsoft services, including email, followed by a freezing of his personal and institutional bank accounts in affected jurisdictions.

While this was happening, the Dutch government was watching, coming to the bitter realization that access to essential services depended on decisions made in the U.S.

Hence, their response to this is DAWO, short for Digitaal Autonome Werkomgeving Overheid, or Digital Autonomous Work Environment for Government in English.

It is a framework that looks to tackle the government's digital stack, covering the OS, an office suite, collaboration apps, cloud services, IT management tools, and AI, with all of it being built around a NixOS foundation."

it's fine, we woke up and successfully voided a bunch of crap and are at lower pressure now, it was just annoying. it's kind of amusing in hindsight that we came up with a snake as a metaphor...

when stuff inside is painfully stretched, we can feel the shape of the obstruction, and when there's a high volume of it that shape does wind up being kinda snake-like. that must be why.

"For six months, the economic effects of the war were muted by a lucky conspiracy of factors: fuel rationing across Asia, growing renewable capacity around the world, political jawboning of markets and the draining of global oil stockpiles, especially by China, whose cut to imports at the start of the war was so significant in this story that it’s been called the demonstration of a new geopolitical weapon. Even so, the gas price signal — that cartoonish standby of American politics — broke through. The price of gas has risen by 50 percent since February. Diesel is now at $6.50 a gallon.

In July, China’s imports surged back up — although not to prewar levels. The Houthis blew up the pipeline Saudi Arabia had been using to reroute oil west to the Red Sea, and the damage is forcing the country to cancel some of its shipments to Europe. The world’s oil reserves, many of which are already at historic lows, are rapidly approaching their floors. Last week, J.P. Morgan published a research note warning that it had no way to map the chaos of the fall to come. The election is little more than a month away."
