To spell this out clearly, the reason RAM has quadrupled in price is that a huge quantity of RAM that hasn't been produced yet has been bought with money that doesn't exist to populate GPUs that also haven't been produced to go in datacenters that haven't been built powered by infrastructure that may never exist to meet a demand that doesn't exist at all to make profit margins that mathematically can't exist while economists talk about this thing they call the "rational markets hypothesis".

This is not models going rogue. This is gross incompetence & negligence ~Timnit Gebru Instead of discussing faulty, unreliable systems, the tech bros are marketing their systems as all-knowing, super- powerful, superintelligent. But any cybersecurity expert would tell you their security practices were laughable. For example, OpenAl was testing how well their models performed at finding & exploiting vulnerabilities in other systems. That's what they trained their models to do. But while testing this capability, you don't want to hack other organizations, so you should do it where there's no internet access. OpenAl didn't take this precaution, so the models were able to access the internet. This is not models going rogue. This is gross incompetence & negligence by a particular company, which actually they could be held criminally liable for. These men - who | believe are the actual real existential risks to humanity - are supposed self-regulate, self-police, & we have to rely on their morality. In the US 13,000 people will die from gun violence this year.

In Denmark only 10.

I call that being pro life.

so it's probably important to know this stuff. but it's important to remember that Gyges is a rationalist who insists he isn't a rationalist, a solid AI doomsday believer who tried for the longest time to hide his power level, and someone who *seriously believes* that you can say slurs against a computer (he compiled the blocklists "AI slur user" and "AI hater" on bluesky).

it's nice to see someone listing all this stuff but also these are the grains of salt you have to take this writeup with.

anyway, TESCREAL is a cult and Gyges seems to be under the impression he's out of the cult in any meaningful way.
