As a line engineer it can be challenging to decode replies to emails you spend weeks drafting to sr mgmt; here's a quick decoder ring:
- "sorry for the slow reply": "I care about this which is why you're getting any reply at all"
- "have you seen X?": "explain why this isn't the solution to the problem"
- "can you chat to Y about this?": "I sense you're onto something, but I need a trusted lieutenant to vet it"
- "keep me in the loop": "keep my reports in the loop. Or don't. I don't care"
