How will we know if your new system is more maintainable? It will need to live as long as the old one, which means this sort of statement immediately fails Hitchen's Razor.
What folks peddling this *mean* to say is "I would prefer to write code in this style".
This is not a business goal. It's not even a hiring strategy.
