I wish Gran Turismo had proper offline, single-player racing. With a much cleverer AI, a real qualifying session, simulating the whole race weekend.
As it is, you always start last on the grid and it's basically a catch-the-leader type of game: you have to show up with a massively over-powered car, just so you can eventually catch the race leader in time for the race to end 🙄
