The idea that Apple and Google removing *explicit tracking IDs* from the OS is some sort of huge privacy win is *bewildering*. That the tech press lapped it up like it has actually been useful, when the big issues come from data at rest, has been serially depressing. Privacy advocates cheering for the worst "do something, do anything" improvements makes me mentally flip a tiny table.
