Even knowing it's true (https://awrestaurants.com/blog/aw-third-pound-burger-fractions), the idea that A&W's 1/3-pound burger didn't sell well in the 80s at least in part because many potential customers thought that 1/3 was smaller than 1/4 just beggars belief.
